Despite the current anti-immigration climate in the US, the country remains a magnet for immigrants. There is no shortage of reasons why business owners, families, entrepreneurs and retirees all seek permanent residency in the US. Despite Trump’s recent executive order barring some immigration into the US, there are still a limited number of ways in which one can legally become a permanent resident in the US. One of those options is the investor visa (EB-5) which was specifically excluded from the executive order. Please join us as we discuss:

  • Karen-Lee Pollak: The EB-5 investor visa. What are the requirements, timelines, costs and benefits?
  • Investing in your own business or someone else's business in order to transfer to the US
  • What to look for in a good EB-5 investment
  • Carel van der Merwe: LCR’s latest EB-5 project, the Pro Football Hall of Fame
  • Antony Joffee: The importance of a trust in immigration planning
This is a private event that will be held over video conferencing software.  Details for joining the event will be sent with registration confirmation and with reminders the day of the event.

Posted by Karen-Lee Pollak on Mon, Dec 16, 2019 @ 3:07 PM

The winner of Pollak's 2019 scholarship was Ashley Vasnaik, who wrote an articulate essay on why immigration matters in America.

Ashley is currently a graduate student at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio, where he's pursuing a Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia.

We loved reading his narrative about his experience as a first-generation immigrant in the United States, and we would like to share it with our readers. Read his winning essay below.
