The State Department has released the Visa Bulletin for June 2014. http://www.immigrationbn.com/Portals/52046/docs/visa bulletin.pdf  The cut-off date for all family-based F-2A categories (for spouses and (unmarried, minor) children of lawful permanent residents retrogressed by more than a year for all countries. Unexpected and dramatic increase in demand in the employment-based third and "other worker" categories also resulted in retrogression in those categories, except for the Philippines. Hardest impacted is the EB-3 China category which retrogressed by 6 years from October 1, 2012 to October 1, 2006.  The "other worker" China category retrogressed from October 1, 2012 to January 1, 2003. The February 2013 Visa Bulletin does not provide predictions for cutoff date movement later in the year.  Let’s hope that the highly anticipated Immigration Reform which President Obama says must happen this year---will bring current the wait times for visas in both the employment and family based categories.

Analysis of July Visa Bulletin | EB-2 Visa Retrogression

Posted by Karen-Lee Pollak on Thu, Jun 21, 2012 @ 7:30 PM

The Department of State’s July Visa Bulletin, provides no surprises. As predicted, there is a slowdown as the government approaches these last three months of its fiscal year. Due to heavy demand against the annual 140,000 quota, priority dates in the EB-2 category, which were previously “current,” have now retrogressed to January 1, 2009. EB-2 priority dates for Chinese and Indian nationals have already been unavailable. There is only nominal movement in the EB-3 category. The State Department warned that later this summer, if heavy demand continues, it may become necessary to make all EB-2 visa numbers unavailable prior to September 30, 2012, the end of the fiscal year.   EB2
Workers other than India and China, with a Priority date after January 1, 2009 should file their adjustment applications by the end of the month

May 2012 Visa Bulletin | EB2 Visa Retrogression - China and India

Posted by Karen-Lee Pollak on Tue, Apr 10, 2012 @ 5:20 PM

The May 2012 Visa Bulletin is out.  Demand for China and India Employment Second preference numbers has increased dramatically and at a much faster rate than had been expected.  Therefore, it has been necessary to retrogress that cut-off date to August 15, 2007 in an attempt to hold number use within the annual limit while maintaining availability for those countries that have not yet reached their per-country limit.  Notices were included in the November, January, and February Visa Bulletins alerting readers to the possibility of such a retrogression.  While corrective action has become necessary earlier than was anticipated based on the information available at the time cut-off dates were determined, it is hoped that readers are not caught off guard by this retrogression. Should additional information regarding potential demand become available, it may be necessary to take additional corrective action at any time.
