Meet Sarah and Daniel

Sarah, a U.S. citizen, and Daniel, a native of Australia, met during a study abroad program in college. Their shared love for adventure, food, and travel brought them closer, and after three years of dating, Daniel proposed to Sarah on a scenic mountaintop in Colorado. They were ecstatic and began planning their wedding, but there was one significant hurdle they needed to overcome: securing Daniel's permanent residency in the United States.

The Challenge

The process of obtaining a green card through marriage can be intricate and daunting. Sarah and Daniel wanted to ensure that they did everything correctly to avoid any delays or complications. They decided to seek professional help and reached out to us at Pollak PLLC.

Our Approach

From the moment Sarah and Daniel walked into our office, we knew their case was special. Our experienced immigration team guided them through every step of the process, ensuring they felt supported and informed.

1. **Initial Consultation**: We began with a thorough consultation to understand their situation and gather all necessary information. This included details about their relationship, Daniel's immigration history, and their future plans.

2. **Document Preparation**: One of the most critical aspects of the green card application is ensuring all documents are complete and accurate. We helped Sarah and Daniel compile the necessary evidence to demonstrate the legitimacy of their marriage. This included photographs, travel itineraries, affidavits from friends and family, and more.

3. **Filing the Petition**: We assisted in preparing and filing Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, along with the required supporting documents. Our attention to detail helped ensure that the petition was comprehensive and compelling.

4. **Adjustment of Status**: We concurrently filed a Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status. This involved  an in-depth review of Daniel's background. Daniel had to go for an immigration medical exam and we included the results with the Adjustment of Status application.  We also filed for a travel permit and a work permit and also filed an Affidavit of Support.   Later, Daniel was scheduled for a biometric appointment where his fingerprints were taken.

5. **Interview Preparation**: The marriage-based green card process often includes an interview with a USCIS officer. We conducted mock interviews with Sarah and Daniel, helping them feel confident and prepared to answer any questions about their relationship.

 The Outcome

Thanks to their thorough preparation and our dedicated support, Sarah and Daniel's interview went smoothly. Just a few weeks later, they received the wonderful news: Daniel's green card was approved! They were overjoyed and grateful for the guidance they received throughout the process.

Conclusion

Sarah and Daniel's story is just one of many successful outcomes we have facilitated at Pollak PLLC.  We understand that the journey to securing a green card through marriage can be stressful and complex, but with the right support and expertise, it can lead to a bright and hopeful future.
