Visa Processing Delayed Worldwide Due to Technical Issues

E--Documents_and_Settings-mpollak-My_Documents-My_PowerPoints-World_Map_&_Statue_of_Liberty-resizedAs As of June 23, 2015, the Bureau of Consular affairs continues to experience technical difficulties with its overseas passport and visa systems that begain around June 11, 2015. Although it has fixed some of the glitches, the biometric data processing system has not been fully restored resulting in delays in visa processing and long waits for visa interviews.

The issue is not specific to any country or visa document.  Since the onset of the technological problems, Bureau of consular affiairs have issued 3000 visas globally for urgent and humanitarian parole and 1250 temporary or seasonal workers in Mexico were reissued new visas.

Immigrants and Non-Immigrants should factor in this issue when planning to travel to the United States as visas generally will not be issued until this problem is resolved.

Bureau of Consular Affairs states "Our team continues to work on this 24/7 to restore the systems to full functionality...[w]e deeply regret the inconvenience to travelers and recognize the hardship to those waiting for visas, and in some cases, their family members or employers in the United States".
